Hello! My name is Olga. I live in Helsinki, Finland.
I have a degree in architecture and I have experience teaching arts and crafts to children. My areas of interest are: felt sculpture, character design, paper art, and others. In spring of 2015 I presented my collection of felted creatures at the Helsinki Exhibition centre Messukeskus as part of the Arts and Crafts Exhibition.
My Felt Story began when I decided to make a toy for my daughter Daria. I wanted it to be special - soft, colourful and of course with its own unique personality. After this toy - it was a Crow named Liz - other characters appeared. First as an image in my head, then as a sketch on paper, and finally as a 3D felt sculpture. I used well-known felting techniques and often came up with new ones to fit the special needs of each creature. But the material used was always wool. Most importantly, as I shaped each toy, it would come alive with its own character, start interacting with others and living an independent life. And this is how this colourful Felt Creature community came together. They are all extremely different - happy and sad, brave and cowardly, kindly and not so much. But all of them are exited to meet you.
I hope you find my work interesting. Feel free to ask questions, I am always happy to answer. I'm also interested in collaborations - it could be projects on the basis of my designs or your own.
